Occupational Health and Safety Policy

Purpose

To document the OHS policy of the school and to set out arrangements for communication and review of the policy.

 

Policy: Application of the Policy  

This policy is applicable to FLINDERSplacename w:st="on" />CHRISTIANplacename w:st="on" />COMMUNITY COLLEGE/place /> in all its operations and functions including those situations where staff are required to work off site.

 

Consultation

The organisation is committed to consultation and cooperation between principal and employees. The organisation will involve staff in any workplace change that will affect the health and safety of any of its staff.

 

Communication of the Policy

1.All personnel, including contractors, are to receive information about the policy at induction and are to be provided with a written copy of the policy after the annual revisions.

2.The signed policy is to be printed on A4 size paper in the format OHS 001/1, and copies displayed on the Administration and Staff Room noticeboards.

 

Authorisation

The Principal is to sign the policy.

 

Review

The policy will be reviewed every 12 months by the Principal in consultation with staff.

·Induction training content

·Induction records

·Distribution lists for policy revisions

 

Procedure Owner

It is the responsibility of the OHS Manager to ensure the procedure is maintained and updated.

OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY POLICY

     

This policy recognises that the health and safety of all employees within the school is the responsibility of the Committee of Management.In fulfilling this responsibility, all staff have a duty to provide and maintain so far as is practicable a working environment that is safe and without risks to health and includes

1.providing and maintaining safe equipment and systems of work;

2.making and monitoring arrangements for the safe use, handling and storage of equipment, plant and substances;

3.maintaining the workplace in a safe and healthy condition;

4.providing adequate facilities to protect the welfare of all employees;

5.providing information, training and supervision for employees, enabling them to work in a safe and healthy manner.

  

The Principal is responsible for the implementation and monitoring of this policy. In fulfilling the objectives of this policy, management is committed to regular consultation with employees to ensure that the policy operates effectively, and that health and safety issues are regularly reviewed in accordance with current legislation.

  

The Principal seeks co-operation from all employees in realising our health and safety objectives and creating a safe work environment.
